In loving memory of Markus Ng..

Matthew 5:13-16

"You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men. "You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.

Dearest Markus,

Thanks for the life you've lived. Thanks for being a light to everyone around. Its a pity that you have to leave so soon. I have always imagined the future and how it would be like when me, you and David would be older. I suppose the future I imagined wouldn't be quite like what I imagined.

I'm at a loss for words; it almost seem as if all my words have turned to tears. I will miss you so very dearly. I look forward to seeing you again dearest brother and friend. Till we meet again..

Light a candle for Markus

Yeah, I am also convinced that his life is a light - a city on a hill that cannot be hidden. I met him when he came to visit my cell late last year. What a man! He also joined us for a night caroling session for Christmas 08 with his brilliant skill on guitar and played some futsal games with us. Man, he was excellent in knowing & sharing God, music and football.

What a man! You must have known him much longer. Thank you for your blog. I miss him even tho I've only met him for a while.

Isn't that what we are to be as Jesus' followers? A quick meet and a strong impact. Thank you Jesus for Markus.

Thanks, Markus. I will stand in line with your other friends to share our stories when we meet again in a little while.

Peter,

I was deeply shocked and saddened to hear of Markus's sudden homecall. Your brother was a wonderful person, with a sensitive heart towards God and others, a caring spirit, and with a strong sense of social justice which reflected the heart of God for his world.

He had so much potential, and yet somehow the Lord saw fit to take him home so early in life. The words of Jim Elliot come to mind:

"I must not think it strange if God takes in youth those whom I would have kept on earth until they were older. God is populating Eternity, and I must not restrict Him to old men and women."

I mourn with you all in your loss. My heart goes out to you and your family at this time and pray that the Lord will fill every void within you with his peace, comfort, strength, grace and presence.

I am unfortunately unable to be at the funeral as I'm currently at RBS 2009. We the staff, and the students, today prayed for your family.

In Jesus' love,
Colin

Thanks for all the prayers and support in this trying time..

I can't help feeling upset that he's gone, but even in my grieving and mourning I am comforted. He's with God now, and I will see him again.
